Premiership Victories For Manchester United, Arsenal And Bolton

With the FA Cup Quarter Finals being played this weekend there were only three Premiership games on today but still a lot at stake for all involved.

At The Emirates Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1 but despite the big scoreline the Gunners were lucky, unlucky and disappointing all at once. They created countless chances with Bendtner missing most of them.

It took them thirty-four minutes before they took the lead in a half they dominated, and it was Cesc Fabregas who slotted the ball in to open the scoring. In the second half Burnley looked a lot better and equalized when Nugent lobbed Almunia. Arsenal pushed on though and Walcott put them ahead before Arshavin made it 3-1 on ninety minutes. At 2-1 Burnley enjoyed good spells though and missed their chances to equalize, but at the same time this win could and should have been far greater if Bendtner had taken his chances.

Bolton surprised a West Ham team who were hoping to get something out of this home game. Davies opened the scoring on ten minutes after powering home a header from a Lee pass before Wilshere doubled their lead six minutes later when he poked in an assist from Cohen.

With twenty minutes left Cohen saw red for Bolton after picking up two yellow cards, but West Ham couldn't fully capitalize although Diamanti did score from a lovely strike with two minutes to go; ending this game 2-1 to Bolton.

In the late afternoon kickoff Manchester United went to the top of the table, albeit briefly, after a 1-0 away win to Wolves. Wolves played well to hold off the Champions for much of the game and even missed a few chances to take the lead, before Scholes smashed in the opener for United with just under twenty minutes to play.

Wolves missed a fantastic chance to make it 1-1 in stoppage time when Vokes blasted a close range effort over the bar.

A good win for Manchester United but a very tight one that Wolves were so close to taking something from. They now go two points ahead of Chelsea who have a game in hand whilst Arsenal move to level points with The Blues.
