TRANSAMERICA and LIVESTRONG Unite in the Fight Against Cancer
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Transamerica Life Insurance Company and LIVESTRONG are joining
together to help millions of people lead healthier lives and receive
heightened support if diagnosed with cancer. Announced today, the
TRANSAMERICA LIVESTRONG SurvivorPlan group
cancer-only and group critical illness policies mark an advance in the
employee benefits market by combining insurance coverage with the
promotion of one-on-one support and other resources from the LIVESTRONG
SurvivorCare program of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
With the global costs of new cancer cases exceeding $300 billion in
2009, this collaboration will help make LIVESTRONG's practical
support services more readily accessible to those who need them.
"This innovative coverage from Transamerica presents a remarkable
opportunity for employers to promote wellness, and help to ensure that
their employees receive the resources and care they need to lead healthy
lives before and after a cancer diagnosis," says Randy Clarkson,
president of Transamerica's Worksite Marketing division. "We have
tremendous respect for the Foundation and what it does to empower people
affected by cancer, and we are proud to guide our policyholders to take
advantage of the LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare program."
As cancer becomes the world's leading cause of death, improved access to
care and practical support immediately after diagnosis will play a
significant role in fostering positive, long-term outcomes for patients.
Designed as supplemental policies, TRANSAMERICA LIVESTRONG
SurvivorPlan products are easy to qualify for and provide meaningful
benefits to policyholders. SurvivorPlan products provide coverage for
many ancillary costs associated with cancer care, including loss of
income, travel for treatment, experimental treatment, and spousal and
other dependent care. Both the cancer-only and critical illness plans
also provide policyholders with the optional benefit of a comprehensive
blood screening profile each year at no out-of-pocket cost.
Additionally, when SurvivorPlan certificate holders file a cancer claim,
they will receive a letter explaining the additional resources available
to them including the LIVESTRONG Guidebook, which provides
information and worksheets to help survivors organize, plan and keep
track of their cancer experience from the moment of diagnosis, during
cancer treatment and after treatment.
By licensing the LIVESTRONG trademark, Transamerica proudly
supports the Lance Armstrong Foundation in its mission to fight cancer.
