TUESDAY, MARCH 2: DR. SEUSS

Profile America -- Tuesday, March 2nd. The menu today should be green eggs and ham -- it's the anniversary of the birth in 1904 of Theodore Seuss Geisel -- far better known as Dr. Seuss. His many books, with their distinctive poetry and illustrations, have sold over 200 million copies and been translated into 15 languages around the world. Several -- including "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Cat in The Hat" -- have been made into hit television shows or movies. Dr. Seuss won a Pulitzer prize for his long-running contribution to the education and enjoyment of children. Even with increasing electronic competition, books published and bought for children are worth some $3.3 billion a year. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, conducting the 2010 Census beginning April 1st.
