Breaking News: Teacher Fatally Shot Outside of School
By John Danz Jr
In the latest of a string of public shootings, KIRO 7 News reports that a teacher has been fatally shot at a Tacoma, WA elementary school.
A man apparently waited for at least two hours in the parking lot of Birney Elementary School before shooting the woman as she arrived at the school at 7:30 a.m. Police reported that the woman knew him.
KIRO reports the woman may have had a restraining order against the man, and that the shooting could be a result of domestic violence.
The Tacoma Fire Department said they arrived but could not resuscitate the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:42 a.m.
As for the gunman, his vehicle was identified and a short chase took place, where he pulled into a parking lot 10 miles later and fired a shot at a deputy. The deputy returned fire, killing the man.
The station reports that few children were at the school and none of them were hurt. However, this is not a surprise as it's the latest in a long string of recent public shootings in this nation.
