Joran van der Sloot Lies About Holloway Case Again?

Joran van der Sloot, one of the prime suspects in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005, told a Dutch TV station that he dumped the girl's body in a swamp somewhere.

Prosecutor Peter Blanken said that the confession is unbelievable because of van der Sloot being unspecific as to where he allegedly dumped her body, and because of the fact that they have reviewed facts and evidence thoroughly.

The prosecutor told CNN "We tried to verify it; it couldn't be true. We talked with several witnesses and reviewed several facts. The story is unbelievable and not true, in my opinion."

As a refresher, 18 year old Holloway disappeared in May of 2005 while on vacation in Aruba with members of her graduating class. She left a night club with van der Sloot and two other men, and was not seen ever again.

Since then, van der Sloot and his buddies were cleared of any wrongdoing based on evidence, or lack thereof.

However, the once-suspect said in a videotape on Dutch TV in 2008 that a friend had sex with Holloway on the beach. Holloway started shaking and convulsing and lost consciousness, and the friend panicked. The friend put her on a boat and disposed of her in the ocean. Van der Sloot claimed that he "lost no sleep" over his friend's anecdote.

Still, prosecutors couldn't arrest him because of lack of evidence. He denied yet again that he had any part in her disappearance. Afterward, he told a Dutch TV show that he was lying about the story, stating "That is what he wanted to hear, so I told him what he wanted to hear."

While these lies can be construed as van der Sloot trying to make money, one must wonder why he keeps making statements about this case if he wants to maintain his innocence, especially statements he later admits are lies. Hopefully, his latest statement about dumping Holloway in a swamp is verified or denied soon - the runaround is getting very infuriating to some people, especially the family of Holloway.
