More details have been released about the deadly, tragic shooting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

It has been revealed that the dead are three faculty members - three other employees were wounded, according to a spokesman's report to CNN.

The spokesman said that the shooting took place before 4 p.m. CT in Shelby Hall, which contains the chemistry department for the school. Police arrived soon after the shooting began, and dormitories were locked down at about 4:10 p.m. All in all, the building was secured at 5:45 p.m.

As reported earlier, a female assailant has been taken in to custody, however her identity hasn't been revealed to the public. Other possible conspirators have been detained as well. "We have a suspect and possible persons of interest. Until we go through everything, we're not going to say exactly how many or who we have." That statement came from Huntsville police chief Henry Reyes.

The dead, as reported by CNN, have been identified as: Gopi Podila, chairman of the biological sciences department; Maria Davis, associate professor of biology; and Adriel Johnson, associate professor of biology.

The injured and their statuses are as follows: Joseph Leahy, associate professor of biology, in critical condition; in stable condition are Luis Cruz-Vera, assistant professor of biology, and Stephanie Monticello, staff assistant. They were all taken to local Huntsville Hospital.

In the wake of the shootings, all classes and athletic events will be canceled from February 15-19.

Questions surround the shooting undoubtedly, but one main question stands out: Why did it take an hour for students of the college to be alerted of the shooting? The police chief had no comment in regards to the inquiry.
