Sarah Brightman Helps Launch Panasonic Song at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
OSAKA, Japan - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Panasonic Corporation, the Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the
Audio and Visual Equipment category of the 2010 Winter Games, today
launched the song "Shall Be Done" with diva Sarah Brightman at
Panasonic's Olympic Pavilion at LiveCity Yaletown, official celebration
site of the 2010 Winter Games.
Launched on the world stage, "Shall Be Done" is Panasonic's innovative
means of reaching out to the global community with its corporate
philosophy and vision. The song lyrics reflect the spirit of Panasonic's
'ideas for life' brand platform and will be incorporated in creative
across all its marketing channels, including online, advertising and
events.
"The song clearly shows Panasonic's spirit, emphasizing the value we
place on new ideas and caring for the future. It made perfect sense for
us to launch the song to the world at the 2010 Winter Games," said
Takumi Kajisha, Managing Executive Officer of Corporate Communications
at Panasonic.
"I'm so proud to perform 'Shall Be Done.' The lyrics are moving and
powerful, and the song captures Panasonic's commitment to sustainability
for future generations, which is a value I support," said Sarah
Brightman about the new song.
Over the past three decades, Sarah Brightman has distinguished herself
as the world's biggest selling soprano of all time, with worldwide sales
of more than 26 million albums and over two million DVDs. She has
received more than 150 gold and platinum awards in 34 countries and
played to more than 700,000 people on her last world tour alone.
Brightman is a pioneer in transcending and melding mainstream musical
genres, from pop and Broadway showstoppers to operatic and classical
arias. She is the inspiration behind such stage hits as Phantom of
the Opera and Requiem, which were written in her honor by
Andrew Lloyd Webber, and her unique crossover style has helped pave the
way for now high-profile singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo and
Josh Groban.
Panasonic has been an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner since the 1988
Winter Games held in Calgary, Alberta. Over the years, the company has
developed new broadcast and television technologies such as digital
video recording and digital high definition TV broadcast.
For the 2010 Winter Games, Panasonic has designed and constructed twin
full HD 3D theatres, housed in the Panasonic Pavilion at the LiveCity
Yaletown site in David Lam Park. Open February 12 to 28 from 11 am to 11
