Benin Sack Players and Coaches in Mass Cull
By David Jester
African football team Benin have sacked their entire playing and coaching staff following their exit from the group stage of the African Cup of Nations.
The decision was made recently despite their departure in a cup which ended over a week ago. They finished third in the group which was their joint best finish for the tournament, and considering they were beaten by the eventual winners (Egypt) and Third Place winners (Nigeria) this was no mean feat.
The FBF (Benin Football Association) claimed that the players were unpatriotic and had no discipline, and the twenty-three man squad has been banished. Manager Michel Dussuyer will be paid until the end of his contract before he is also shown the door.
