Sutter Street Theatre Enters Fourth Year in Historic Folsom

As one of the few full time theatres in the Greater Sacramento Area and the only full time theatre in the Folsom-El Dorado Hills area, Sutter Street Theatre has a highly qualified artistic and teaching staff.

Allen Schmeltz told Folsom Local News that out of nearly 100 theatres participating, Sutter Street Theatre received the most Elly Awards for Excellence in Theatre for 2008-2009.

There are two shows and five performances almost every weekend throughout the year, Critically acclaimed productions with excellent reviews in The Sacramento Bee, Folsom Telegraph, and David Jacobson's Blog.

In it's final week, is Alice in Wonderland, Written by Kathryn Schultz Miller and Directed by Allen Schmeltz, playing this Saturday at 1pm and 4pm, and Sunday at 1pm.

All of this and a growing teaching program in Performing and Visual Arts is accomplished though the dedication of a talented staff and the blood, sweat and tears of owners Mike Jimena and Connie Mockenhaupt.

Sutter Street Theatre recently created a much improved website, although it is still a work in progress.
