EUGENE, Ore. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - In Recognition of a 50-year career in sports, law, ethics, and public service, the Foundation for Global Sports Development is proud to announce its 2010 recipient: Mr. Richard W. Pound.

Pound is a 1960 Olympic swimmer, attorney, tax law specialist, Chancellor of McGill University and high-ranking member of the International Olympic Committee. Pound has been well received in the international media over the past decade for his outstanding leadership as the founding director of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Dr. Steven Ungerleider, trustee and executive board member of the Foundation for Global Sports Development, notes: "It is truly an honor to give this award to Mr. Pound, a pre-eminent leader in healthy sport and someone who has changed the face of Olympic competition in his promotion of major anti-doping efforts."

The Foundation for Global Sports Development is pleased to announce Pound's acceptance of the award at a special ceremony in Vancouver at the February 2010 Games.

In addition to his Olympic and academic responsibilities, Pound is the author of six books, the father of five children, the husband of the pre-eminent fiction writer Julie Pound and a resident of Montreal.
