Red Baron Hockey Moms Event Will Recognize and Reward Moms
MINNEAPOLIS - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Ten lucky hockey moms will get the thanks and recognition they deserve
when they win the Red Baron Hockey Moms contest. Youth hockey
players in Minnesota and Wisconsin have a unique opportunity to thank
their moms by writing an essay and telling why, in 150 words or fewer,
their mom should be selected as a Red Baron Hockey Mom.
Nominations can also be submitted by a hockey mom's spouse, sibling,
parent, or friend. Entry forms are available at the Red Baron pizza
freezer case in all participating Cub Foods stores, or online at www.RedBaron.com.
Entries must be postmarked by Saturday, February 20, 2010.
Essays will be judged on the mom's commitment to the sport of youth
hockey, including focus on family, time management, fundraising efforts,
and more. Ten moms will be selected and rewarded with a variety of
prizes from the makers of Red Baron pizza, including a $50 Cub
Foods gift card and $500 each to be donated in their names to their
children's youth hockey associations. The ten moms and their families
will also win an exciting day of activities on Saturday, March 20, 2010
including the WCHA Final Five Championship game at the Xcel Energy
Center, where the moms will be honored during an on-ice ceremony and one
mom's name will be randomly selected as the grand prize winner of a
kitchen appliance makeover, compliments of Frigidaire and Warners'
Stellian.
"Hockey moms are a very special group and play a variety of important
roles. We are honored to reward them for their effort and dedication to
their families with our Red Baron Hockey Moms program," said Dan
Hammer, senior vice president of marketing for Schwan's Consumer Brands
North America, Inc. The extremely popular program is returning for the
ninth consecutive year. As part of Minnesota-based Schwan's Consumer
Brands North America, Inc., Red Baron pizza is perfect for
on-the-go families - such as hockey families - who lead busy lives and
want great tasting, convenient food that fits their lifestyle.
Minnesota, renowned as "the state of hockey," has more children
participating in organized hockey than any other state in the U.S. Last
season, more than 40,000 boys and girls were registered to play youth
hockey, while approximately 10,000 boys and girls played hockey on high
school teams. Minnesota Hockey, the statewide governing body of amateur
hockey, is part of the Red Baron Hockey Moms program for the
second year, communicating contest details and information to youth
players, coaches, team managers, and association presidents.
