Huge Cache of Ammunition Recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 24: Ahead of India's Republic Day (January 26 function), the security agencies seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from North Kashmir.
A paramilitary CRPF spokesman, Prabhakar Tripathi said acting on a specific information 45 bn CRPF, police and army men in a joint operation recovered two water tanks (Syntax) near a stream at Poshnag Kreeri, Pattan in North Kashmir on Sunday.
"A Peka UMG rifle, 42 UBGL granades, 13 mortar bombs, 57 hand grenades, 51 stick grenades, 2 anti tank mines, 6 explosive sticks, 26 IED circuit box, 4 IED metallic circuit box, 28 IED circuit box watch type, 32 IED connecting box, 35 IED battery connecting circuits, 30 detonators, 10/12 explosive powder, 3 ammunition boxes, 1200 rounds of AK ammunition, 4 rounds of Pika gun, 4 radio sets, 4 spare batteries and 4 radio set battery chargers were recovered from the water tanks," Tripathi said.
He termed the seizure as a major achievement of security agencies. "We have thwarted major militant attempt to create disturbances during Republic Day functions," he said.
This is one of the largest recoveries in recent times.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that police and army recovered 3 pistols, 3 pistol magazines, 5 AK magazines, 286 AK rounds, 2 HE 84 Grenades, 5 Kgs explosive, 12 Electronic Detonators and Cordex Wire 15 metres from a militant hide in the mountainous Poonch region.
He also said after the seizure of weapons, the security measures across Kashmir has been further beefed up.
