Ghana 1-0 Burkina Faso. Ghana Advance To The Quarter Finals To Play The Hosts
By David Jester
Ghana booked their place in the African Cup of Nations Quarter Finals today after a 1-0 victory over a valiant Burkina Faso side.
Ghana's star man Michael Essien had previously been ruled out of the tournament due to injury but he was watching in the stands when Ayew headed Ghana into a 1-0 lead on thirty minutes.
Burkina Faso had their chances and played well before and after the goal but their efforts proved hopeless when Mamadou Tall was sent off with just under twenty-five minutes left to play. Leaving them with ten men who struggled to get back into the game.
Ghana will play host nation Angola in the next round of the competition, a match which is sure to test this young side.
