LAS VEGAS, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia-Pacific Wood Products, a leader in the building and construction industry, announced today that it has achieved "Green Approved" certification from the NAHB Research Center for 13 of its wood and engineered lumber products.

"Green Approved" certification means that the Georgia-Pacific products comply with specific green practice criteria in the National Green Building Standard(TM). Builders can earn points toward certification to the Standard by using Georgia-Pacific "Green Approved" products in accordance with both the approved practices described in the Standard and manufacturer installation instructions.

The following Georgia-Pacific wood products have been "Green Approved" by the NAHB Research Center: Plytanium® and DryPly® plywood; Blue Ribbon® oriented strand board (OSB); DryGuard® enhanced OSB; Nautilus® wall sheathing; Thermostat® radiant barrier sheathing; Wood I Beam(TM), XJ 85®, and Broadspan® joists; GP Lam® and Broadspan® laminated veneer lumber (LVL); and Fiberstrong® and Broadspan® rim board.

"We were pleased to undertake this certification process in order to provide builders and specifiers with the assurance that our products comply with this important green building standard for residential construction," said Caryn King, director of marketing, Georgia-Pacific Wood Products. "We're proud to offer quality wood products that can help make homes durable and energy-efficient and can help builders achieve their sustainability objectives," added King.

Georgia-Pacific Wood Products continues to demonstrate environmental commitment and industry leadership through the NAHB "Green Approved" certification, as well as the fiber procurement and chain-of-custody certifications they achieved through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®).
