Tiger Woods' Donation to Haiti
In regards to your story about Tiger Woods' donation:
I can safely assume that if this scandal wasn't hanging over his head, you wouldn't be nearly as critical of his "measly" $3 million donation. Three million dollars is a great deal of money. Why aren't you getting on Sandra Bullock's case for donating a "measly" $1 million?
I understand your contempt towards Tiger Woods, but the fact remains that he gave the donation to lend a helping hand. It's not right to insinuate that he's just trying to save his image by donating. By that logic, every other person giving a donation is just trying to put forth a pseudo-altruistic image. Tiger is doing that based on the amount of money? I find it hard to believe you're chastising him for actually giving money, a massive sum of money at that.
He didn't murder anyone; he committed adultery - it's HIS business. If he had his way, no one would know about this. It's his PERSONAL business. It doesn't directly affect you in any way, shape or form. I really don't think you should wish him a permanent departure from golf based on a lapse in personal judgment. Can I stress the word "personal" enough?
I'm 19 years old; I haven't lived through a great deal of these celebrity scandals, nor have I ever cared for many of them. However, I'd expect a little more finesse and reasoning from a mature adult such as yourself, Robert.
I am not standing by what Woods did, I'm merely stating that he put forth an effort to help those in need. If I were you, I'd spend more time demeaning those who haven't done a thing and less time letting your personal feelings for things that don't even affect you hinder your judgment. And when I say demeaning those who haven't done a thing, I mean logically criticizing based on their financial situation and ability to help. I'm sure you already knew that, though.
