Anupam Kher Auditions Students for His Acting School in Chandigarh

Legendary Actor Anupam Kher auditioned students for the next batch of ACTOR PREPARES, his acting school on the 16th of January, 2010 in Chandigarh. The Chandigarh branch of his school was initiated with the Society for Tourism and Entertainment Promotion (STEPS) three years ago. On this occasion, Mr Kher also addressed the entire media here and shared with the aspirants tips on Acting.

ACTOR PREPARES currently offers a three-month long intensive, full-time professional-level course in acting. Competent in-house faculty members who passionately teach the craft through practical's, theories, games, exercises and extensively filmed practical's conduct the classes at ACTOR PREPARES.

"I believe that acting, like any craft, can be taught, learnt and perfected," said Mr Kher, who has won innumerable awards in a career spanning 25 years encompassing almost 400 films. Mr Kher is the only actor in the world who has become a teacher while still actively pursuing his career. "My interactions with the current crop of international directors such as Danny Boyle or Ang Lee or Gurinder Chaddha, keeps me abreast of global trends that are emerging in world cinema and I pass on such knowledge to my students. Today I am here in Chandigarh to zero down on the next batch of students for my acting school. I think Punjab has enormous amount of talent and it has traditionally reflected in our film industry," he added.

The faculty at the Chandigarh branch of ACTOR PREPARES includes Mr. Asif Khan, a graduate from the National School of Drama who has acted in, and written several plays, and Mr Vikas Mohla who has 14 years experience in theatre and has acted in a Jahnu Barua film.

In addition, there is a roster of Bollywood celebrities, which comprises the school's visiting faculty, who share with students their invaluable on-the-job experiences and tips to success. Preity Zinta, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover and Kirron Kher are among the celebrities who have given guest lectures. Above all, each student receives individual guidance and counseling from the country's most successful, trained teacher-actor, Anupam Kher, throughout the programme. Mr Kher has also been a teacher to the most prominent Bollywood stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra etc.

ACTOR PREPARES has produced many of the finest actors in the film industry, including Deepika Padukone. Apart from Mumbai, ACTOR PREPARES currently has 3 branches in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and London. The school also has a sizeable collection of films and books/journals to facilitate the learning of Cinema. ACTOR PREPARES also has a Talent Placement agency, which is constantly called upon by major film and television production companies to refer actors and actresses for their projects.
