RollStream Delivers Network to Help Businesses with CPSIA Compliance
MCLEAN, Va. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - RollStream,
the leader in Enterprise
Community Management, today announced availability of the
Certificate Exchange Network (CEN). The CEN is an online network of
retailers, manufacturers and distributors of consumer products. It
enables the exchange of General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs) to
demonstrate compliance with the Consumer
Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 by the February 10,
2010 deadline.
RollStream's CEN is purpose-built to help businesses boost efficiency
and effectiveness of their CPSIA compliance efforts, reduce risks and
minimize costs. Manufacturers can directly post GCCs to the network or
provide links to certificates stored on their website. With a simple,
easy-to-use browser interface, retailers can securely download any
product certificate needed to demonstrate CPSIA compliance within
seconds.
The impact of the CPSIA is significant to both manufactures and
retailers as it imposes new product safety testing and information
sharing requirements on certain consumer products. All affected products
must be accompanied by GCCs, either in paper or electronic form,
demonstrating that the product has been tested and meets appropriate
safety standards - such as child-resistant packaging on products like
acetaminophen, batteries, cosmetics and mouthwash. With the new
legislation, retailers and manufactures face substantial Consumer
Product Safety Commission (CPSC) fines if they are unable to prove
compliance quickly. RollStream's CEN reduces this risk.
"RollStream's proven history in streamlining supplier collaboration for
Fortune 500 retailers coupled with our deep understanding of the CPSIA
made our platform the logical solution for addressing the complexities
introduced by the new legislation," said Kristin Muhlner, CEO of
RollStream. "We are thrilled to be delivering a solution that enables
both retailers and manufacturers to reduce the risks and minimize the
costs associated with compliance, especially given today's turbulent
economic climate."
RollStream is already working with the National Association of Chain
Drug Stores (NACDS) to provide their members access to the CEN free of
charge. RollStream is also hosting, in conjunction with NACDS, a webinar
that highlights best practices manufacturers and retailers should follow
to get ready for the February 2010 compliance deadline. The webinar will
be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 3 p.m. EST. Registration can be
