GTEC Appoints Jack Hess as Senior Director of Intelligence Operations and Analysis

MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTEC) announced today that John J. Hess has joined the company's Intelligence Solutions business as Senior Director for Intelligence Operations and Analysis. In this role Mr. Hess is responsible for overseeing a substantial, multi-agency national security and law enforcement customer portfolio.

With extensive experience in law enforcement and the Intelligence Community, Mr. Hess is a valued addition to the GTEC team. Alex Drew, President of GTEC's Intelligence Solutions business commented, "We are pleased to welcome Jack to our team. Prior to joining GTEC, Mr. Hess spent over 21 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent assuming numerous roles and responsibilities. He retired from the FBI as a member of the government's Senior Executive Service and most recently served as the Associate Director of National Intelligence assigned to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the FBI's senior liaison position to the Intelligence Community.

As Section Chief for the agency's Communication Exploitation Section Mr. Hess created and implemented policies to analyze the electronic communication methods used by terrorists, including the management of all telephone, email and digital media programs. He also served as the National Program Manager for the FBI's National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime (NCAVC) within the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) which includes the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP) and Behavioral Analysis Programs.

Mr. Hess graduated from Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and he is currently enrolled in the Masters of Homeland Security Management Program at Long Island University. He has received extensive law enforcement training and is a graduate of a Management certificate program from the Kellogg School of Business. Mr. Hess has received numerous awards and citations throughout his career, and has twice been nominated for the Attorney General's Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement.
