Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Fire
At 2 a.m. Sunday morning Folsom Police officers were working in the area of Oak Avenue Parkway and Santa Juanita Drive when they stopped a vehicle for traffic violations.
The driver identified himself as Earnest Paul Hovey II, 38 yrs old from Sacramento, and immediately notified officers that he was currently on State Parole. On second thought, Hovey decided not to stick around for the officer's reaction to his admission, and drove away from the vehicle stop.
Officers pursued Hovey in his 1995 BMW as he reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. During the pursuit, Hovey ignored the marked patrol vehicle's emergency lights, and was seen by officers throwing items from his vehicle in the area of Madison Avenue and Sunset Drive in Fair Oaks.

Eight miles, and as many minutes later, Hovey's BMW caught fire in the engine compartment and rolled to a stop in the WalMart parking lot at Hazel Avenue and Greenback Lane. Hovey was taken into custody and a large sum of cash was seized as evidence.
Hovey was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for a Parole Violation and Felony Evasion (of police officers).
