World Hypnotism Day - Exploring the benefits of Hypnosis

To help promote the benefits of hypnosis, Hypnotist Chris Hughes will attempt to set the world record, for the number of people in a trance, with a special "Social Trance" event through Facebook and Twitter Monday evening (8.30 pm).

As many as 6,300 people have signed up for the event so far, although Derren Brown successfully achieved far greater results following one of his shows recently (where people were stuck in their seats).

Whilst events like these are good fun, I am not sure they reveal the true potential of hypnosis.

We all know that some people can be hypnotised to perform like chickens on stage, and whilst this has entertainment value, it hardly promotes the more serious side of hypnosis.

Although hypnosis cannot repair broken bones, cuts and other physical injuries, it can be of considerable help to mentally related problems such as phobias and fears. Hypnosis can be used to help you stop smoking, lose weight, overcome premature ejaculation, stop blushing, improve confidence, overcome jealousy, become more creative, overcome the fear of spiders or flying, increase your learning abilities and hundreds of other areas.

Many doctors are starting to recommend hypnosis to patients who suffer severe pain as the result of terminal illnesses, as hypnosis can be used to help control the level of pain experienced by these people. This can be an extremely beneficial alternative to the drugs normally prescribed, which often produce unpleasant side effects.

Establishing hypnosis as a serious method of helping various health problems, or improving our lifestyle, has always been hindered by a deep seated fear of its capabilities. Many still associate hypnosis with the trances obtained in certain "cult" ceremonies and the apparent ease at which a person can be hypnotised on stage.

It should be pointed out that the trances of old were more a form of brain-washing than modern day hypnosis, and there is a big difference. Brain-washing can make a person do things they would never normally consider and this is achieved over quite a long period of time. It is very possible that the "terrorists" we see hitting the headlines are victims of this.

However, hypnosis cannot make you perform tasks that you consider dangerous, or force you to do something that would be harmful to others. Sadly, there are some who can use hypnosis to "trick" people into believing a certain action is acceptable, but the victims are usually people who have a naturally trusting nature.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where people are being "tricked" all the time. This is not hypnosis, but a form of brain-washing or commercial trickery. A good example would be the advertising you see every day on television, making you believe that one product is better than another. Or offering an item at "half-price", when a company has already tried selling the product at that price earlier.

There are many people who achieve success by simply using will-power, but not everyone has the strength to do this. Almost everyone who smokes would like to stop, but their subconscious minds are constantly telling them to continue. Hypnosis has the ability to eliminate this desire at the very source, which is why those who use hypnosis to stop smoking, stay stopped!

Many who seek their fortunes in business often fail because they don't truly believe in their abilities. Again, hypnosis can build up your confidence and provide the determination that is present in all of today's successful business people.

Even if you are not looking for any specific help in your life, hypnosis can be used to help you relax at the end of a long and perhaps stressful day. You can obtain a FREE relaxation hypnosis download HERE, which you should find beneficial.

Try not to fear the power of hypnosis, it is nothing more than a tool to assist the abilities that we all possess. Overcome your fears and phobias, and develop your true potential with a scientifically proven method. That is the real capability of hypnosis!
