Franchise Industry Professionals Unite in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness & Research

DALLAS, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In early November, seven franchise industry professionals involved in WEBB, or Women Empowered By Business, participated in the Susan G. Komen's Breast Cancer 3-Day® 60-mile walk in Dallas, TX. The team, "Team SpiderWEBB," was sponsored by 25 franchisors, who helped them raise over $20 thousand for breast cancer awareness and research.

The streets of Dallas were teeming with supporters from all over the country during those momentous three days, and the energy and enthusiasm of both the walkers and the spectators was running high. There were people sporting various shades of pink, as well as those who held signs and pictures honoring their loved ones who were battling breast cancer or had passed away because of it.

"The 3-Day Walk is such an important event because we know so many people in our own franchise family as well as our franchisor partners that are currently battling the disease or are breast cancer survivors. It is a traumatic experience to have to go through, and we don't want them to feel that they are fighting this disease alone," said Lori Tyll, senior vice president of operations at The Entrepreneur's Source (TES), and co-founder of WEBB. "If we can raise over $20 thousand toward finding a cure for breast cancer as first year participants, can you imagine what we could do as an industry collectively moving forward," she added.

"What's truly remarkable is the number of franchisor partners who reached out with enthusiasm to support our team as sponsors," said Judy Stoleson, a business coach with The Entrepreneur's Source and also a co-founder of WEBB. "Our dream now is to rally the entire franchise industry next year to come together as walkers and sponsors in the 3-Day Walk. We want to really make a difference in the lives of people who find themselves dealing with a diagnosis of breast cancer," she added.

The SpiderWEBB Team of seven walkers included organizers Lori Tyll and Judy Stoleson, Brian Miller (President and COO of The Entrepreneur's Source), Donna Miller, Judy Britt, Jennifer Myers and Christina Moore. During the 3-Day Walk, each SpiderWEBB Team member wore t-shirts with the names of all their franchise industry sponsors on them. These financial contributors included:

    -- AdviCoach
    -- Business Partner

Established in 1982, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has raised over $1.5 billion for the fight against breast cancer around the world. Those research dollars have certainly paid off. Statistics today show that with early detection, there is now a 98 percent rate for five year survival. Ten years ago it was 76 percent.

This annual fundraiser is a rallying cry for women and men who want to make a personal impact in the fight against breast cancer. The 60 mile walk has helped raise millions of dollars for breast cancer research and patient support programs for several years, and will continue to do so in the years to come.
