Lapolla and ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Erie, PA Project

Ward Family Home Episode Airs Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 8/7c on ABC

With the rampant disrepair of a crumbling two-story home -- including a cracked foundation, a leaky roof, peeling walls and a faulty sewage line -- it was apparent to Maleno Development and the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team that Clara Ward of Erie, PA needed a new energy-efficient home. Lapolla donated the spray foam insulation material, an important building component that contributes to the sustainability of a home.

Spray foam insulation is a spray-applied thermal insulation material used in wall cavities, floor assemblies, ceiling assemblies, and in attic and crawl space applications. When properly installed, this advanced insulation system leads to energy efficiency, improved occupant comfort, a cleaner indoor environment, and greater noise reduction for building and home owners.

"It is important that we contribute to the energy-efficiency of this home," stated Douglas J. Kramer, president and chief executive officer of Lapolla. "Clara and her family will come home to a much larger home and we need to make her energy bills more affordable. This is accomplished by creating a conditioned space for the HVAC system in the attic and sealing the building envelope to minimize air exchange in and out of the home."

The spray foam insulation applicator that donated the time to complete the Ward family home was Bauer Specialty. Their contributions will allow the family to enjoy the benefits of low energy costs and a healthier indoor environment.
