Jet Set Sports Contributing to Olympic Experience for Youth Trip
EUGENE, Ore. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD) announced today that
Jet Set Sports has donated more than $100,000 worth of tickets to the
2010 Olympic Winter Games to support GSD's disadvantaged youth
mentorship program.
The premier Olympic hospitality company will supply 300 tickets to GSD,
providing the experience of a lifetime for 50 at-risk kids from the Boys
& Girls Clubs of San Francisco. Jet Set Sports' relationship with GSD
began earlier this year and the details of the donation were finalized
in October 2009.
The world's leading organization for the advocacy of fair play and
learning in sport, GSD uses this annual trip to reinforce the values of
sport and fair play and to inspire kids to achieve against the odds. The
tickets will give the kids access to a variety of events including
cross-country skiing and a chance to cheer on the U.S. Men's and Women's
hockey teams.
As an official supporter for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Jet Set
Sports is responsible for providing its guests an experience that
reflects the excellence of the Olympic Games. For decades the company
has helped set the standard in Olympic hospitality.
"This will make such a difference for the kids," said Steven
Ungerleider, Ph.D., GSD's Executive Board Member. "On behalf of everyone
involved in the mentorship program, let me express our deepest gratitude
for this very much appreciated generosity."
From their allotment as official sponsors, Jet Set Sports has donated
thousands of complimentary event tickets to worthy organizations during
every Olympic Games in which they've been involved. In 2008, Jet Set
Sports made several donations to the Sichuan earthquake relief efforts,
including providing travel accommodations and tickets for 180 children
from the Sichuan Province to enjoy a six-day stay at the Games.
"As proud supporters of the Olympic Movement and the ideals that it
seeks to advance, we're constantly looking for unique opportunities to
involve youngsters in the magnificence of the Olympic Games," said Sead
Dizdarevic, chairman and CEO of Jet Set Sports. "GSD, with its focus on
sport and fair play, is a perfect fit for us and we're thrilled to play
a small role in the success of the mentorship program."
