Faryl Smith, "Britain's Got Talent" Singer Stung by Thoughtless City Council
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
A music business insider tells NewsBlaze that Faryl Smith, 14 year-old "Britain's Got Talent" star, caused HMV to be named in a court case by the local council in Kettering, a small town in the UK Midlands.
Faryl Smith, a local Kettering girl, was at an HMV shop in Kettering on Monday, at a CD signing. The young girl sang one of her songs, and this fact was apparently reported to the Kettering Council. The local authority subsequently issued a fine to HMV for allowing her to sing without the appropriate 'Performance arts Licence'.
The Kettering council, in Northamptonshire, needs to get a life! The HMV store was hosting the local star and her local fans turned out in force. It makes no sense that a singer not be allowed to sing a song or two. The event apparently brought people from far and wide to the town and shopping center.
Although the court case is against HMV and not the singer, it puts a cloud over the singer, fans, the shopping centre, Kettering as well as HMV.
The city council may end up with a bad name that tarnishes the whole town and imprint their name on a senseless, frivolous lawsuit.
