  Share With Friends

TEMPE, Ariz. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Global Entertainment Corporation (OTCBB: GNTP) is pleased to announce the November 2009 Grand Opening events of the two most recently completed multi-purpose events centers located in the cities of Allen, Texas and Independence, Missouri.

Allen, Texas Events

The official ribbon cutting ceremony and a facility open house was held on November 4, 2009 at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. Some 500 people filled the outdoor plaza entrance to the Allen Event Center to hear Mayor Stephen Terrell welcome the citizens of Allen and Collin County to the official opening of the city's crown jewel. "It's an exciting time in Allen," reports Mayor Terrell. "We are seeing the result of years of strategic planning that included setting Allen apart in the North Texas region as the place to be. We opened our premier event center with a winning hockey team and a Reba McEntire concert. Combine this with the extras of free parking and a Community Ice Rink and we have met our goal to become a regional entertainment destination for families."

"This is a fantastic day for Allen and the community," said Allen City Manager Peter Vargas. "With our own entertainment venue we are able to provide our community with quality entertainment at a very affordable price."

The project, situated within the MG Herring Group's 400 acre mixed use development known as the Village at Allen and the Village at Fairview, features an 8,600 seat capacity (6,200 for hockey), 26 luxury suites along with club and loge seating, VIP lounges and an attached 20,000 square foot Community Ice Rink.

Global Entertainment Corporation President and CEO Rick Kozuback stated, "The Allen Event Center has come together through the combined efforts of the MG Herring Group, the City of Allen, Global Entertainment Corporation and the many partners that made this dream come true. Without the vision and commitment of the mayor, the members of council and the leadership of the city staff this project would not have happened."

The first two events at the Allen Event Center were greeted with packed houses beginning with a "Reba McEntire Concert" on Friday, November 6, followed by the home opener of the Central Hockey League's "Allen Americans" on Saturday, November 7.

Independence, Missouri Events

On Saturday, November 7, 2009 Global Entertainment Corporation executives and dignitaries from the City of Independence officially opened the Independence Events Center to the applause of more than 3,000 area residents. The perfect fall day saw crowds of visitors tour the events center getting their first opportunity to witness the beautiful facility located at the crossroads of Interstates 70 and 470.

Similar in design to the Allen Event Center, the Independence Events Center features 5,800 fixed seats for hockey, 7,500 for concerts, 26 luxury suites along with club and loge seating, a Presidents Club on the main concourse level for all patrons to enjoy and the 20,000 square foot "Centerpoint Medical Center Community Ice Rink" for skating and hockey lessons, practices and games.

Mayor Don Reimal began the official ceremonies by stating, "What a day for Independence. I couldn't be more excited. This is an event that will go down in the history of Independence as one of the finest things we've ever done." Mayor Reimal reiterated a statement he made many times before as he reminded the audience that the "Independence Events Center is a family oriented facility. We wanted it to be that and we're going to work very hard for it to continue to be that way."

Mr. Kozuback said, "Everybody together believed that this was going to be good for the citizens of this community. It was going to take some financial undertaking and it was going to have some risk; however, in the end this was going to be something that is good for people today and some 50 or 60 years from today."

City Manager Robert Heacock commented, "This new center elevates Independence from a local to a regional destination. This building can be a memory maker."

The Independence Events Center opened its doors for the first public events with the CHL's "Missouri Mavericks" hosting the Wichita Thunder on November 13 and 14 marking the home debut of the franchise. The Zac Brown Band officially opened the Independence Event Center as a concert venue on November 17, 2009.

Global Entertainment Corporation is extremely proud of these two beautiful facilities and is pleased that both event centers opened on time and on budget. The completion of these two facilities brings the total number of buildings which Global Entertainment Corporation has brought to communities around the country to nine.

Global Entertainment Corporation's full complement of subsidiary companies are involved in each of these facilities which further emphasizes its ability to provide turnkey solutions to municipalities throughout the country who desire to have a multi-purpose event center become part of their community's landscape.
