Sacramento Philharmonic Partners with B Street Theatre For Free Family Shows
Performances funded by stimulus grants from the National Endowment for the Arts' Recovery Act Neighborhood Program
Sacramento, CA - Today, the Sacramento Philharmonic (www.sacphil.org) announced a new partnership with the B Street Theatre to provide a series of free, family-friendly performances throughout the region. Thanks to stimulus grants from the National Endowment for the Arts' Recovery Act Neighborhood Program, Philharmonic musicians and B Street actors are set to perform Igor Stravinsky's Russian folk story, "A Soldier's Tale." The performances will feature Mitch Angruss, known in Sacramento as the children's television host "Captain Mitch."
"The Sacramento Philharmonic wants to ensure that stimulus dollars benefit the whole community," said Marc Feldman, executive director, Sacramento Philharmonic. "We are offering these concerts for free because everyone should be able to experience music and the arts."
"The music is above all fun. It's filled with jazz and dance elements that everybody will recognize," said Michael Morgan, music director, Sacramento Philharmonic. "The Stravinsky is a great story, and I couldn't be more excited about working with B Street Theatre."
"Partnering with the Sacramento Philharmonic is a natural for B Street," Bill Blake, managing director, B Street Theatre. "We hope these performances will inspire and educate our region's families and children."
