Four-Star Gen. McCaffrey (Ret.) to Testify, "Time to Lift the Ban" on Cuba Travel, 10 a.m. Thurs., Nov. 19, House Foreign Affairs Committee, 2172 Rayburn House Office Building
McCaffrey will be available to media immediately following testimony to discuss Cuba, as well as just returning from Afghanistan and latest developments
WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Four-Star General Barry R. McCaffrey (Ret.), former Commander of the U.S. Southern Command, also former U.S. Drug Czar, and now adjunct professor of international affairs at West Point, will testify that it is "time to lift the ban" before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 19. The Committee is chaired by Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA), who invited McCaffrey. Following his testimony, McCaffrey will be available to media.
McCaffrey has traveled to Cuba and held extensive discussions with Cuban civilian, academic, military, and political leaders, including for several hours with Fidel Castro.
NOTE TO MEDIA:
McCaffrey will return late Wednesday night, the day before the hearing, from his latest trip to Afghanistan, a week-long mission where he met with military, civilian, and political leaders and toured key areas. In his post-hearing media availability he will also be able to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan and Iraq.
