EDUCATION 2020 Partners with uBoost to Increase Student Engagement, Performance and Course Completion
HONOLULU - (BUSINESS WIRE) - uBoost, providers of an award-winning online student performance
recognition and rewards platform, announced today a partnership with
EDUCATION 2020 , including the launch of three uBoost pilot programs in
Honolulu schools. More schools are expected to offer uBoost with
EDUCATION 2020's online curriculum to boost student engagement,
performance, and course completion.
With the increased attention on high school graduation rates, EDUCATION
2020, the nation's leading provider of online instruction in core and
elective courses, has selected uBoost as its partner to enhance student
engagement and course completion. EDUCATION 2020 is among a growing
number of online credit recovery and acquisition companies to fully
integrate the uBoost program; giving clients access to optional features
to automatically recognize and reward students for course progression.
Every activity-including homework, labs and assessmentâis assigned a
point value that students earn as they progress through the course.
"We now use uBoost with our EDUCATION 2020 program in an effort to
increase students' program completion rates," said Maxine Aulelava,
program administrator at Hakipu'u Learning Center, which is piloting the
uBoost program. "Amazingly, since the addition of the student
recognition component, we have seen a significant increase in the
motivation levels of the students, completion rates and scores. uBoost
has made all the difference in our students' motivation to learn and
complete their work, and it has positively impacted student achievement."
With the use of incentives, including special offers for merchandise
such as iPods and Nintendo Wiis, EDUCATION 2020 is enabling its clients
to motivate students to put forth their best effort to complete their
coursework. Each rewards program is customized based on each school's
budget, desired features, and rewards preferences.
"A major benefit of distance-learning is the ability to deliver a
customized experience for each student," said uBoost CEO John Bower.
"EDUCATION 2020's engaging curriculum coupled with intrinsic and
extrinsic rewards through uBoost provides a dynamic experience that is
having tremendous impact on students' outlook on education."
Founded in 2007, uBoost is quickly being recognized for its impact in
education. In May 2009, uBoost was recognized at the Software and
Information Industry Association (SIIA) Codie Awards as "Newcomer of the
Year." In August 2009, the Company was named a finalist in the
prestigious EdNET Awards as "Rookie of the Year," underscoring the
industry's excitement for uBoost's approach to student recognition and
rewards.

About uBoost
uBoost is an online performance recognition and rewards platform that
provides a system for educators to recognize positive behavior and
incremental improvement. Working across all age groups, curricula and
achievement levels, uBoost partners with publishers, school districts,
online schools, tutoring companies and private education companies to
design and implement recognition and rewards programs that improve
student and parent engagement.
Recognition in the form of award points, performance-based honor badges,
and a coveted spot on achiever leader-boards encourages students and
parents to put forth maximum effort. Points can be used to help feed a
hungry child, plant a tree, adopt a whale, or support other charitable
causes. Points can also be redeemed for merchandise and gift cards, or
to participate in contests to win premium rewards such as iPods and
Amazon.com gift cards. In addition, students can choose to use their
points to customize their own safe, virtual environment. With thousands
of rewards choices (from $.01 to $200.00), uBoost is constantly
introducing new rewards and contests to keep up with students' changing
interests, ensure relevance throughout the school year and provide
unique rewards to keep every individual engaged and motivated. uBoost
encourages parental engagement by sending daily notifications to parents
regarding student point awards. The uBoost platform meets part of NCLB
requirements for parental engagement and student performance.
