NASA Claim to Find "Significant" Amount of Water on The Moon
By Ian Brockwell
NASA scientists have said that preliminary data from a Moon probe "indicates the mission successfully uncovered water in a permanently shadowed lunar crater."
It is not too clear how much water can be expected in the area investigated, but some have suggested there is enough to fill a few buckets.
If the findings are correct, we can expect much more in other locations on the Moon.
Whilst this discovery may not have any direct benefit to those living on this planet, it would certainly make it much easier to set up permanent bases on the Moon.
Scientists had long thought that the Moon was completely dry, with the exception perhaps of ice at the bottom of craters.
Michael Wargo, chief lunar scientist at NASA headquarters in Washington said "We're unlocking the mysteries of our nearest neighbour and, by extension, the solar system,"
