Help Folsom Fire Department Earn a $10,000 Grant

America's Fire Departments are facing tough times. Perhaps you've seen reports of local fire stations forced to cut staff, salaries, or forgo new life-saving equipment. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company recognizes the importance of these brave men and women that protect our communities and we need the residents of Folsom to help us reverse this trend, with a click of a button.

Michael Snelling, a local Liberty Mutual Representative, has teamed up with Chief Haverty and Fire Marshall Haberek of the Folsom Fire Department to help bring a $10,000 grant right here to our own fire department. Folsom residents can help their local department win one of the ten grants being given nationwide by visiting www.befiresmart.com/michaelsnelling and taking a brief quiz on home fire safety. Each completed quiz counts for one point towards the Folsom Department.

What are we asking for from you?

We need each of you to visit the website and take the quiz to earn our department a credit. Then after you complete the quiz, please tell your co-worker, neighbor, or family member to visit the site and earn another credit themselves. The more people we share this information with, the better our chances of helping the Firefighters that help us when we need them.

In addition to taking the quiz, the website is also a great resource for educational materials. Visitors to the site can learn about many fire prevention techniques and get some great ideas about how to protect themselves in case they ever experience a fire in their home. Please go to the site to complete the quiz and while you are there stop to familiarize yourself with the educational materials.

The Liberty Mutual BeFireSmart Fire Safety Pledge program is a great way for all of us to give back to those who risk their lives for our safety. We can make a difference by simply giving a couple of minutes of our time to complete the quiz. The grant period will stay open until December 21, 2009, and winning departments will be announced in January 2010.
