m62 Urges Presenters to Use Keyboard Shortcuts in PowerPoint Presentations

  Share With Friends

m62 visualcommunications, the global leader in presentation effectiveness, today highlights to presenters the advantages of using keyboard shortcuts when delivering a sales or marketing presentation.

There are many keyboard shortcuts available, of which m62 recommend learning to use the B key first and foremost. Hitting this key renders the screen blank, so that the focus is directed entirely towards the presenter. This technique is most useful when something vital is about to be said, and the presenter wants to ensure that the audience are not distracted by the PowerPoint slides behind him.

Other useful shortcuts include the ability to jump to whichever slide in a presentation the presenter wishes to display; converting the mouse to an on-screen pointer with which to highlight certain aspects of a slide to the audience; and erasing any annotations made.

Nicholas Oulton, Founder of m62, commented: “It never ceases to amaze me how many delegates at my training courses are unaware of the shortcuts available. It is such a simple thing that, once taught, will not be forgotten – yet the knowledge just doesn’t get passed on.

“I do not deliver a single presentation without using at least one of these shortcuts. In fact, many good presentation clickers will offer you the basic shortcuts, such as the ‘blank’ function. Using these will make a presentation run much more smoothly.”

Keyboard shortcuts are one of the lessons taught at m62’s PowerPoint training sessions. Other key points that feature in these workshops are the use of animation; the effective use of visual aids; and how to structure a presentation for maximum effectiveness.

m62 has produced over 6,500 presentations for clients worldwide, including blue-chip brands such as Siemens, BP and Microsoft. m62 offers a wide range of solutions, from investor presentations to free PowerPoint templates.
