Shazam Encore Debuts on App Store
LONDON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Shazam, the world's leading mobile music discovery provider, today
announced the launch of its new Shazam Encore app on the App Store.
Shazam has been a phenomenal success on the App Store, with over 10
million downloads to date, and Shazam Encore app will make it even
easier for iPhone and iPod touch users to learn more about the music
they love and go on a greater music journey than ever before.
"Since our launch on the App Store, Shazam has achieved a huge
following with iPhone and iPod touch users and is now one of the most
popular music apps in the world," said Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam. "We
have listened to our iPhone and iPod touch users and have created a new
app which answers their requests to take them on an enhanced music
journey that will change the way music lovers experience and learn about
music."
Shazam Encore is filled with new functionality, including:
-
Improved speed performance: making it even quicker for
users to tag tracks and learn more about their music.
-
Music recommendations: users can discover other
music similar to the track that's been tagged to enhance their music
collection and knowledge.
-
Find what's hot and popular: Shazam music charts
generated by millions of other Shazamers can be accessed to help users
keep up to date with the new tracks and players in the music scene.
-
Search music: easily find music by artist, album
or track from over 8 million songs.
-
Drive and Tag: Shazam automatically enters into
car mode when the iPhone is placed in an in-car dock to make it simple
to discover what's playing on the radio even when driving.
Shazam will continue to support the existing free Shazam app on the App
Store with new users limited to five Tags per month. Existing Shazam
users will get all of these great features they've come to expect from
Shazam without any limitations. Additionally, the free Shazam app has
been enhanced with services such as the ability to share Tags onto a
Facebook mini-feed.
Fisher continues: "From launching the first mobile music recognition
service in 2002, Shazam is yet again defining the way mobile users
experience the music around them. And now, seven years on we're
offering Shazam fans a compelling application which will allow them to
discover, acquire and share new music in more ways than ever before,
while still enabling new users to download and use Shazam for free."
Features in both Shazam and Shazam Encore:
-
Share a music moment: Shazamers can send their
Tags as a Tweet to followers; to their Facebook mini-feed or even as a
Postcard to friends so they can add the Tag to their own collection in
Shazam, as well as preview and buy direct in iTunes.
-
Track the music journey: Tags now appear on Maps inside
Shazam, along with the Tag history, to remind users where they were
when they captured the moment.
-
Learn more about the music: users can read track
and album reviews and artist biographies, plus see other music from
the same artist and view song lyrics.
-
Personalise Tags: make it easy to capture the
moment by taking and adding a photo or attach an existing picture to
their Tags. These shots are then seamlessly added to the iPhone photo
album.
-
Store pending Tags: even when users don't have
data connection, they can still capture the music moment. The pending
Tag can be sent later when they are back in data coverage or WiFi
connectivity.
The Shazam Encore app is available for £2.99/ €3.99/ $4.99, depending on
location, from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
Both Shazam apps are live in 22 countries across the world and local
language versions are available in English (UK and US), German, Italian,
Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese and Japanese.
