Pelosi, Feinstein Homes Targeted Sunday
On this Veteran's Day Week, CodePink Peace activists plan to bring a virtual graveyard to San Francisco Congressional homes to remind war funders of the tragic human cost to endless wars.
As the tragedy of the Ft. Hood killings continues to unfold, and family's prepare to bury their loved ones, as the number of GI suicides surpass those killed in the wars, as drone missile attacks are on the rise, resulting in 98% civilian deaths, CodePink calls on Congress to remember the real cost of war.
WHAT:
Bodies and names of the recent victims will be drawn in chalk in front of Speaker Pelosi and Feinstein's homes. Photos with flowers will be left for those not to be forgotten. The soldiers killed in Afghanistan, Iraq and the soldiers killed at Ft. Hood, civilians killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and collateral damage from Pakistani drone attacks.
WHEN/WHERE:
SUNDAY, 9-10:00 am Speaker Nancy Pelosi's House: 2640 Broadway (between Scott and Divisadero).Occupation of Sen. Feinstein's home (Lyon at Vallejo in SF) begins at 3 10-11:00 am Senator Dianne Feinstein's House: 2460 Lyon (Lyon and Vallejo) NOON: The CodePink Golden Gate Bridge Peace Walk will follow this Veteran's Day action.
"More than one million Iraqi's are dead from a war that was based on lies, and the occupation still drags on. How many civilians and troops will continue to be killed in our name? Obama is deliberating over more troops versus more drone attacks in Afghanistan. We demand an exit strategy for a speedy withdrawal now. The human cost is too great!" says Toby Blome, event organizer.
