BURBANK, CA, November 07, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SmartAVI, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the fields of digital signage content creation, management and delivery solutions through hardware and software, has unveiled its versatile FDX-AV multimedia signal extender.

The nature of the optic fiber allows for DVI-D signals to be transmitted and extended much further than ever before via traditional native wire cabling and connections, which is a critical advantage that SmartAVI has integrated into its digital signage solutions products.

Equipped with DVI-D connectors for multi-mode operation, this product is the perfect fiber solution for multimedia/digital signage extension needs. Each package comes with two units - a transmitter and a receiver, capable of extending stereo audio, high-resolution DVI-D video and RS-232 control signals as well at distances up to 1,400 feet with optimal quality and performance.

"The FDX-AV is the newest of our fiber optic products that we're rolling out as part of our high-performance extension line for digital networks utilizing high-speed fiber," said Albert Cohen, President and CEO of SmartAVI, Inc. "Fiber optics technology has become an industry standard, allowing for cleaner, faster transfer of data around the world over lines that are a fraction of the size and mass of traditional communications cabling.

"In keeping up with the needs of our clients world-wide and the wide-spread use these days of fiber optics, SmartAVI has developed and is introducing a family of fiber products and accessories that allow us to stay current and as always, very aggressive with our pricing. The FDX-AV is a dynamic product, perfect for any number of multimedia applications, from corporate demonstration and meeting rooms to lounges and resorts - any environment with digital signage," added Cohen.

SmartAVI's FDX-AV is a long-distance, digital signage and multimedia signal extender, capable of transmitting HDTV video up to 1920 x 1200 at 1,400 feet without visible or audible signal loss over multi-mode fiber. With a completely customizable and programmable DCC table, the FDX-AV features full support of RS-232 signals from 300bps to 19,200bps.

The FDX-AV is compatible with all operating systems. Both transmitter and receiver units are housed in compact, metal casings for seamless integration into any network or component configuration.

The suggested retail price for SmartAVI's FDX-AV is $1,899.00.
