Urgent Care Awareness Week November 9-13
WARRENVILLE, Ill. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Urgent Care Centers around the country will be celebrating the second
annual Urgent Care Awareness Week November 9-13th. The goal
of Urgent Care Awareness Week is to help educate communities -
individuals, families, groups, primary care physicians and emergency
departments - about urgent care and how urgent care centers can help
serve their healthcare needs, especially during the flu season.
Urgent Care Centers provide walk-in, extended-hour medical care for
minor to moderate illness and injury that needs treatment immediately -
but does not belong in an emergency department. With limited
availability of primary care, over-crowded ERs and rising healthcare
costs, urgent care is an essential care option for all communities.
Urgent Care Centers have also played a critical role in seasonal and
H1N1 flu (swine flu) vaccination campaigns this year.
Urgent Care Centers provide treatment for conditions such as cuts and
lacerations, sprains/strains, colds, fever, seasonal flu and H1N1 (swine
flu), insect bites, ear infections, rashes, back aches, vomiting and
diarrhea, stomach aches, simple fractures, and many other illnesses that
are not life or limb threatening. Life-threatening conditions should
still be treated in the emergency room.
During Urgent Care Awareness Week, Urgent Care Centers are offering
different special programs to their communities. Get to know your
neighborhood urgent care clinic. Contact your local urgent care
center or visit www.ucaoa.org,
scroll down, and click on "Find a Member Center Near You" .
