AIPL Announces Premier Opthalmic Pathology Consultation Group
SILVER SPRING, Md. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - American International Pathology Laboratories (AIPL ) announces the
formation of the first ever multi-subspecialty group to diagnose
Opthalmic Pathology cases. With the small number of Opthalmic
Pathologists in the United States, the need exists for a comprehensive
group to render expert diagnostic opinions on cases involving the eye.
The team will focus on all types of Opthalmic Pathology cases, including
temporal arteritis, melanoma, epithelial, hematologic and soft tissue
tumors of the eye, lacrimal gland pathology, eyelid skin and mucosal
lesions, retinal and macular pathology, corneal diseases, infections of
the eye and orbital bony lesions.
The expert group consists of Rudy J. Castellani, M.D., Aaron Auerbach,
M.D., M.P.H., Julie C. Fanburg-Smith, M.D., Allen P. Burke, M.D., Fabio
R. Tavora, M.D., Magda Tomaszewski, M.D., Gary R. Warnock, D.D.S, M.S.,
M.A., Jacqueline A. Wieneke, M.D. and Ron Neafie, M.S. Drawing on their
years of experience and their centralized location in Silver Spring, MD,
this team is able to bring a collaborative approach and their combined
expertise to the most complex Opthalmic Pathology cases, leading to the

In addition, this group has also published extensively on vascular, soft
tissue, maxillofacial, head and neck, helminthes, fungi, bacteria,
protozoa, arthopods and other areas of Ophthalmic Tumors and Pathology.
Pathologists from this group also teach regularly about vasculitis at
