By Andleeb Kashmiri
A demonstration was organised by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in Srinagar on Thursday against Pakistan's recent attempt to make Gilgit-Baltistan its fifth province.
A huge gathering of JKLF activists who took part in the protest were holding playcards and shouted slogans, including "Division of Kashmir Unacceptable", "Jammu Kashmir Meri Jaan Ladakh Gilgit-Baltistan", "Accession, Self-Rule, Autonomy meaningless, Independent Kashmir only acceptable" "Remove all restrictions on Amanullah Khan" and "Release JKLF senior leader Zahoor Butt from prison".
Leading the protest were Senior Vice chairman of JKLF in Srinagar SM Afzal, Zonal President Abdul Qadir Rathar, General Secretary Rasheed-ul-Hassan and Publicity Secretary Andleeb Kashmiri.
Speaking to media, SM Afzal said Kashmiris all over the world are holding demonstrations against Pakistan's decision to give Gilgit-Baltistan a province-like status.
He said a huge Long March and dharna will be held at Parliament House, Islamabad in which thousand of people from all across Azad Kashmir and Pakistan will try to reach Islamabad, Pakistan. He said the purpose of these demonstrations is to remind India and Pakistan that any part of Kashmir (Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Jammu, Kashmir) is neither their Jugular vein nor an integral part.
The JKLF Leader said Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris and any attempt by either country will be resisted by the Kashmiri people.
He also appealed to people of Pakistan to stop their government from taking such decisions which are big hurdles in the movement for the right of self-determination. SM Afzal thanked Kashmiris all around the world for participating in demonstrations on the call given by JKLF supreme head Amanullah Khan.
Andleeb Kashmiri is the Publicity Secretary of JKLF in Srinagar.
