The Rusty Pelican Goes Green & Gives Back

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Green isn't just a color anymore. It's a worldwide movement that The Rusty Pelican is adamant to be a part of. The restaurant joined the global trend, embracing ecological accountability with their signature "Green Wed" receptions.

"Environmental responsibility is a growing concern among our guests, and rightfully so," says Justin Gralnick, General Manager of The Rusty Pelican. "It only makes sense that we integrate eco-consciousness into our services."

Green Wed entrees at The Rusty Pelican consist of organic meats, sustainable seafood, and locally grown produce. No antibiotics, added growth hormones, or pesticides are used. All Green Wed packages come with a delicious, all-natural, preservative-free wedding cake from Chantilly Cakes. Organic wine and champagne are available to complement the classy (and ecological) meal, including one that comes from a winery certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers.

Table linens, napkins, chair covers and bows are provided by Connie Duglin Linen where half the water they use is recycled by an in-house reclaimed water system. The pH level of the remaining water is measured before entering the drainage system, ensuring that no polluted water is released into the environment.

At the end of an event, all plastic, paper, cardboard, aluminum, and glass are placed in a reusable recycling box provided by g2 Revolution, a company whose products and services help increase environmental sustainability. The materials are then picked up and recycled, conserving natural resources and saving energy.

For every Green Wed event, The Rusty Pelican will donate $100 to the Tampa Bay Estuary Program to aid its efforts in protecting and restoring the bay and its inhabitants.
