Pony Cars Rule SEMA Show, According to InsideLine.com
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - InsideLine.com,
the most-read automotive enthusiast Web site, has kicked off its
coverage of the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)
show, an annual trade show held in Las Vegas featuring every automotive
accessory imaginable.
Among the highlights of the 2009
SEMA show are:
Jay
Leno Camaro Project Car: According to Leno, this twin-turbo version
of the 2010 Camaro V6 makes 425 horsepower thanks to the addition of
Turbonetics T-3 turbos and an air-to-air intercooler.
Mopar
Dodge Challenger 1320: The street-legal Challenger 1320 "image
vehicle" has a massive 7.0-liter Hemi V8 that packs 556 horsepower and
540 pound-feet of torque. All that energy is transferred to the rear
wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, a custom Dynatrac rear housing
with Dana 60 internals and a selectable ARB locking rear diff.
2010
Cobra Jet Mustang: The heavily modified 'Stang gets a (roughly) 475
hp supercharged 5.4-liter V8 with an intake element that looks to be
about the size of an office trash can and an ear drum-pummeling exhaust
note.
Mid-Engine
Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Rhys Millen: This V8-powered version of the
Genesis coupe has a 4.6-liter V8 with the fitment of eight individual
throttle bodies and a set of JE pistons that should bump the compression
ratio from the stock 10.4:1 to about 10.9:1 or 11.0:1. We're guessing at
least 450 horses.
