PowerAdvocate Cost Indices Indicate Energy Project Costs Starting to Rise

Key themes from the quarter results include:

• Signs of recovery. Across the board, the Cost Indices showed signs of costs increases in the third quarter, notably in Nuclear, Combined Cycle and Wind.
• O&M activity. Required maintenance activities that were delayed at the beginning of the year restarted in the third quarter. Cost increases noted in steam turbines services, combustion turbine services, and boiler services, to highlight a few.
• Metals commodities increasing. Copper, Aluminum, and Nickel have been on a steady rise after their troughs in late 2008. Even Steel is beginning to escalate.
