WHY

Congress is about to begin debate on the passage of the healthcare reform bill. Two contentious issues that directly affect low-income Illinois residents are coverage for millions of uninsured families, and whether legal and illegal immigrants will be included in the final bill. (60% of the 16,000 patients who visit the AHS Clinic are uninsured immigrants). It is important for Congress to act quickly and responsibility to ensure that the neediest Illinois families are not left out in the cold.
