CURT Presents Vision of What's "Beyond BIM"
CINCINNATI, Ohio - (BUSINESS WIRE) - "Beyond BIM: Excellence in the Creation and Protection of Capital
Assets" will be the subject of a keynote presentation to be given by
Frank T. MacInnis, Chairman and CEO of EMCOR Group, Inc. at The
Construction Users Roundtable's (CURT) 9th Annual National
Conference of Construction Owners, to be held November 16-18, 2009 at
Buena Vista Palace Hotel in Orlando, Florida (for registration
information visit www.curt.org
and follow the National Conference link). The theme of the conference
is: "Surviving and Thriving in Today's Construction Industry" ; the
Conference will focus on tangible solutions that help improve the
competitive position of those involved in the construction process and
industry. The Construction Users Roundtable is an association of leading
corporations and government organizations in the United States dedicated
to promotion of cost-effective construction methods; collectively the
members of CURT spend more than $160 billion annually on construction
services.
"Industrial, commercial, and government facility owners and users face a
host of challenges in understanding and managing the true life-cycle
costs of their assets," stated Mr. MacInnis. "One of the best ways of
overcoming these challenges is the use of mutual-benefit partnerships
with efficient, technologically adept construction and facilities
services firms that have moved far beyond the traditional skill sets and
customer relationships of the past."
But major obstacles---real world issues that affect both facility owners
and their services providers---need to be addressed. "We are shooting at
a moving target, in that buildings and facility structures of tomorrow
will be different from today's standards, with higher technical content,
reduced carbon footprint, and an increasing emphasis on sustainability,"
continued Mr. MacInnis. "These changes will necessitate different skill
sets from the owners, constructors and facilities service providers---to
ensure that the infrastructure of tomorrow is operating at maximum
efficiency."
In this keynote, Mr. MacInnis, a 35-year service industry veteran, talks
about these issues---and will offer solutions as the industry moves into
the future.
