Mark Howitson, Deputy General Counsel at Facebook, to Deliver Keynote at LegalTech New York 2010
NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Mark S. Howitson, deputy general counsel of Facebook, will deliver the
day two keynote address at ALM's upcoming LegalTech
New York 2010, the nation's largest and most prestigious legal
technology conference and trade show. LegalTech New York will take place
February 1-3 at the Hilton Hotel in New York City. Complete conference
information is available at www.legaltechshow.com.
Howitson's presentation will include discussion of how Facebook, Twitter
and other social media have begun to replace traditional news outlets as
viable sources of information and the impact of this trend on
e-discovery. He will analyze these new, individual and dynamic channels
of communication, as well as the implications of how social media
information is stored, both from a business and personal perspective.
Howitson will also outline what corporate litigators need to consider
from an e-discovery perspective; how to maintain control over the
e-discovery process and the data involved; how to measure e-discovery
costs, trends and efficiencies; and cloud computing benefits and
shortfalls.
A bachelor's degree graduate of University of the Pacific, Howitson
attended law school at Santa Clara University, graduating cum laude in
1997. After working at Hoge, Fenton, Jones and Appel, Inc.; Gunderson
Dettmer; and Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, LLP, he joined Facebook
in 2007, where he is responsible for worldwide litigation, labor and
employment and the company's patent portfolio.
The day-two keynote presentation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
February 2nd in the West Grand Ballroom. This session is open to all
attendees and has been approved for one complimentary CLE credit.
