LMS Software Helps Meridian Make List of Top Training & Simulation Companies
CHANTILLY, Va. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - KMI Media Group and Military Training Technology magazine have for the
second consecutive year named Meridian
Knowledge Solutions, LLC a "Top Training and Simulation Company"
because of the software firm's impact on military training during 2009.
Meridian's learning management system (LMS)
- which analyzes and delivers training via the internet - has
underpinned its contributions to the military.
The Meridian LMS is used for knowledge-exchange and learning across all
branches of the U.S. military, Department of Defense and several state
National Guard units. Since the Air Education and Training Command (AETC)
began using Meridian's software, the number of users of the AETC LMS has
grown from a handful to more than 900,000 civilian and military
personnel.
Meridian's flagship software product, the Meridian Global LMS, combines
learning and knowledge management with Web 2.0 functions - such as
online collaboration spaces - to enable cooperation between warfighters
billeted acround the world.
In reviewing Meridian for this year's list of Top Training and
Simulation Companies, KMI Media Group and Military Training Technology
magazine considered the Chantilly, Va.-based firm's contracts with the
Air Force News Agency, U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare and
Recreation Command; U.S. Marine Corps, including Marine Corps Aviation;
U.S. Special Operations Command; and, Joint Special Operations Command.
"One of the advantages of Meridian's LMS is that it provides the
flexibility to create a central repository for training data and deploy
customized systems at an unlimited number of bases around the world,"
said Roy
Haythorn, vice president of operations for Meridian. "Our Department
of Defense business has grown substantially in recent years for two
reasons. First, our system has consistently delivered for partners such
as L-3 Communications as well as other DoD contractors, and, second, our
services and commitment have, in many cases, exceeded the expectations
of uniformed and civilian DoD employees."
A panel of judges selected this year's Top Training and Simulation
Companies based on criteria such as total military sales, product
innovations and the success of each nominee's training programs. Along
with Meridian, the 2009 list features more than 80 companies including
CACI International Inc., Northrop Grumman Technical Services, Raytheon
and Rockwell Collins.
