PNY Encourages Students to Focus on Eco-Friendly Technology Solutions

PNY Technologies®, Inc. ("PNY"), a global leader in flash memory, USB flash drives, solid state drives, computer memory upgrade modules, as well as consumer and professional graphics cards, has announced the "My Big Green Idea" college scholarship contest.

PNY's college scholarship contest is challenging high school seniors in both public and private high schools to conceive an eco-friendly solution, product, or idea that will help to save the environment using PNY technology. Students must submit a typed, 1000 word or less, essay describing their project, along with optional pictures and/or video to support their idea. Submissions will be accepted from now until March 15, 2010.

One Grand Prize Winner will be selected to receive a college scholarship of $5,000, as well as $1,000 to execute their idea. The winner's high school will receive three brand new computers and monitors. PNY will also select two honorable mention entrants to receive a PNY prize package valued at $500.00.

"With the launch of our environmentally friendly flash product packaging earlier this year, PNY has taken a more proactive role in our green efforts on a national and global scale," said Tony Gomez, vice president, sales and marketing at PNY. "The 'My Big Green Idea' scholarship contest is aimed at encouraging high school students to consider their own environmental impact and develop ideas to address environmental challenges with innovative solutions."

Entrants are encouraged to submit their idea online at www.pny.com/education. Details for entering by mail are also available on the entry web page. The winner will be selected on or about April 20, 2010, and eligibility is limited to current high school seniors who reside in the United States.
