'Tea or Coffee' Debut Documentary by Afrah Haji

BOSTON, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Project Nur will be hosting a screening of "Tea or Coffee" on November 6th 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Harvard University's Fong Auditorium, Boylston 110. Without spoken words, Afrah Haji's debut film explores the complexities of her divided identity. This will be the debut of local filmmaker and AIC New England council member Afrah Haji. With footage from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, this three-part short-film series traces the complex map of identity in the age of globalization.

At once Somali, Kuwaiti, German, and American, Haji uses snapshots to document her transition from conservative dress in a Kuwaiti school to appearing in a traditional Bavarian "Drindl" dress at Oktoberfest. Beyond chronicling her personal journey in Super-8, photographs, and time-lapse footage, Haji's film offers a provocative meditation on metamorphosis.
