SALT LAKE CITY - (BUSINESS WIRE) - FranklinCovey Products today announced a licensing agreement with A.T. Cross Company, the global manufacturer of fine writing instruments. Under the agreement, Cross will license the FranklinCovey Products brand name on a global basis for the development and distribution of an exclusive collection of stylish and functional writing instruments appropriate for both business and personal everyday use.

The new line of FranklinCovey-branded pens is immediately available at Staples stores nationwide. Additional distribution channels will be added next spring with other office supply stores and select mass retailers in the United States. The uniquely styled pens and pencils incorporate the premium quality and construction Cross is known for, along with a range of designs that appeal to both men and women. International distribution will be underway by late 2010.

"Cross has world-renowned writing instrument and design capabilities, and pairs extremely well with the FranklinCovey brand," said FranklinCovey Products CEO Sarah Merz. "This agreement marks a new focus for us in extending the FranklinCovey Products brand into relevant categories, domestically and internationally."

FranklinCovey Products' International Senior Vice President John W. Spotts commented: "Adding a market leader and high quality partner such as Cross demonstrates the strength of the FranklinCovey Products brand name. We see this as the first of many domestic and international licensing agreements to come."

"The combination of the strong FranklinCovey brand equities with Cross' quality writing instrument knowledge and experience will allow Cross to bring consumers and retailers a compelling new writing instrument experience," said Charles S. Mellen, President, Cross Accessory Division. "We are very excited about the opportunities that our new relationship will bring both organizations."
