The Romanian Cultural Institute Presents "4 Years, 3 Days and 2 Decades Later"

The Romanian Cultural Institute announced today the line-up for the 4th Annual Romanian Film Festival in New York City, this year entitled 4 YEARS, 3 DAYS AND 2 DECADES LATER, to take place from December 4th-6th at Tribeca Cinemas. This year's festival will feature the best and most recent films from Romania's unique and critically exalted national body of contemporary cinema on the twentieth anniversary of the fall of communism in Eastern Europe.

Festival curator Mihai Chirilov has created a special retrospective section for this edition of the festival called Waving at the Revolution, which includes the opening night film Videograms of a Revolution. The line up is as follows:

Chirilov states, "Ever since the break out of Romanian films in the U.S. in 2006, the Romanian Film Festival in New York not only found a solid reason to exist, but also proved to be the perfect companion for the ever-growing impact of the New Romanian Cinema on American audiences."

In attendance at the festival will be actor Vlad Ivanov (Police, Adjective & The Other Irene), winner of the 2007 award for Best Supporting Actor of the Los Angeles Journalists Association for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, director Horaþiu Mãlãele (Silent Wedding), actor Andi Vasluianu (The Other Irene), and, producer/director Tudor Giurgiu (Katalin Varga, Australia & Love Sick).

In partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, Link TV will broadcast nationally the complementary film series Selections from the Romanian New Wave: a special Cinemondo presentation. Airdates and full program information will be announced shortly. This series is curated by Steven Lawrence, Vice President of Music and Cultural Programming at Link TV.

The Romanian Film Festival in New York City was initiated in 2006 by The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, and since its inception has featured great works of contemporary Romanian cinema such as The Death of Mr. Lazarescu by Cristi Puiu; 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days by Cristian Mungiu, California Dreamin' (endless) by Cristian Nemescu, 12:08 East of Bucharest by Corneliu Porumboiu and others.
