PHOTOS: Soldiers Take Advantage of Reenlistment Opportunities

CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq - Sgt. Benjamin Petty, a commercial vendor pay auditor and a Lancaster, Ca., native, with Detachment A, 125th Financial Management Company, 96th Special Troops Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, is seen accepting his reenlistment contract from 1st Lt. Charryse M. Bass, executive officer of the 208th Financial Management Company and a Brooklyn, N.Y., native. Petty reenlisted for four years and has accepted stabilization at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and he received a bonus. He stated that he plans on going to the promotion board for Staff Sergeant, completing 30 credit hours of college to complete his associate's degree and applying for the Officer Candidate School after he returns from this deployment.


CAMP SLAYER, Iraq - Spc. Jaime Velastegui, a commercial vendor pay technician and a native of Houston, Texas, with Detachment A, 125th Financial Management Company, 96th Special Troops Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, is taking the oath of re-enlistment from 1st Lt. Charryse Bass, executive officer of the 208th Financial Management Company and a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. Sgt. 1st Class Kendall Booker, detachment sergeant A/125th Financial Management Company and a Lanett, Ala., native holds the U.S. flag during the ceremony. Velastegui reenlisted for three years, will be stabilized at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, received a school option, and a bonus. His goals are to become a noncommissioned officer and get all the college education that he can.


CAMP VICTORY, Iraq - Sgt. Stephen Thenstead, a disbursing certifier and Kingston, Jamaica, native with Detachment A, 125th Financial Management Company, 96th Special Troops Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, is seen speaking to a small group of his colleagues after reenlisting at the Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory. Thenstead reenlisted for five years, and will also be located at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and received a bonus. He plans on becoming a Warrant Officer.





CAMP SLAYER, Iraq - Sgt. Herchel Skinner, a disbursing certifier from Munich, Germany, with Detachment A, 125th Financial Management Company, 96th Special Troops Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, is seen giving a small speech concluding his re-enlistment ceremony. Skinner reenlisted for four years; he will be reassigned to Europe and receive a bonus. He plans on traveling around Europe and submitting his Officer Candidate School packet.
