Chateauguay Municipal Elections: A First Mandate as Mayor for NATHALIE SIMON of the Chateauguay Citizens' Action Party

CHATEAUGUAY, QUEBEC - (Marketwire - Nov. 2, 2009) - This evening, Mrs Nathalie Simon from the Citizens' Action Party was elected to the post of Mayor of the City of Chateauguay with 8 659 votes while Mr Michel Enault from the Chateauguay Party received 4 502 votes and Mr Anthony Boffice, an independent candidate, received 2 161 votes.

Six members of Mrs Simon's team were elected; one member of Mr Enault's team and one independent candidate for the position of councillor were also elected.

The new Municipal council includes the Mayor and councillors elected in the eight electoral districts, as follows:

La Noue District (1): Mr Barry Doyle, Chateauguay Party / Michel Enault Team, elected with 723 (16.4%) votes;

Filgate District (2): Mr Pierre Gloutney, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, elected with 609 (15.1%) votes;

Robutel District (3): Mrs Esther Salomon, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, elected with 685 (17.4%) votes;

Bumbray District (4): Mr Guillaume Dumas, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, elected with 914 (21.4%) votes;

Salaberry District (5): Mr Marcel Deschamps, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, outgoing councillor, elected with 1,338 (34.1%) votes;

Lang District (6): Mr Mike Gendron, independent, outgoing councillor, re-elected with 1,022 (24.1%) votes;

LeMoyne District (7): Mrs Ginette Gendron, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, elected with 1,173 (25.2%) votes;

Youville District (8): Mr Alain Cote, Citizens' Action Party / Nathalie Simon Team, elected with 1,010 (24.5%) votes.

We should mention that two political parties presented candidates for the position of mayor and councillor and that two independent candidates ran for the post of mayor; while one withdrew before the vote; and eight independent candidates ran for the post of councillor. The electoral list included 33,569 electors.

The date for the swearing in of the members of the new Municipal Council has not yet been set, but the first meeting of the council will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at 8 p.m., in the council chambers located at 265 D'Anjou Boulevard, Suite 106.
